Prizes


REGIONAL

Conducted at your ASME Region's Regional Student Conference (RSC) in the spring of 2004. Contact your Regional Office or see the  Regional Contest Locations Page  for the dates and location.
  • 1st - $200, trophy, and up to $1000 travel allowance (*) to the finals.
  • 2nd - $100 and a plaque.
  • 3rd - $50 and a plaque.

FINALS

At the 2004 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (The ASME Congress) in Anaheim, CA:
  • 1st Place - The prize consists of $3000 plus $1000 awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
  • 2nd Place - The prize consists of $1000 plus $500 awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
  • 3rd Place - The prize consists of $500 plus $250 Awarded to the Student Section of the Winner's Institution.
In past years, the prizes included travel allowance for winners to attend the National Design Conference in Chicago.
Unfortunately, ASME has ended its affiliation with the National Design Conference and that portion of the prize can no longer be awarded.

(*): Travel Allowance Restrictions

For Region winners to attend the Congress:
  • All travel contributions will be paid after submittal of expense reports.
  • All travel contributions are subject to ASME policy restrictions (travel expense + $100/day out-of-pocket expenses).  See also ASME Policy 4.5 at  http://www.asme.org/asme/policies/policy.html
